How does Psilocybin-Assisted Psychotherapy work.
Psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy combines psilocybin (the active ingredient in magic mushrooms) with psychotherapy to promote self-reflection and break through rigid thought patterns. It works by enhancing neuroplasticity, guiding you toward the formation of healthy thought patterns while weakening negative pathways—which is critical for anxiety and depression recovery.

Client testimonials
"I am a retired Captain with Vancouver Fire Rescue Services. I was diagnosed with Complex PTSD and Major Depressive Disorder both ranked in the severe range. I reached bottom this summer while waiting for Worksafebc to make a decision on a urgent/immediate reopening of my file (5 months and still waiting) and made the decision that I could not wait any longer for Worksafebc to give me the help I so desperately needed. I researched several clinics and found Field Trip Health to be the one for me. I highly recommend Field Trip Health and Ketamine Assisted Therapy. They completely changed my life in the most positive ways possible. When I first started the therapy I was cautiously optimistic and could never imagine the profound positive changes that I experienced. I am eternally grateful to Nav and Terri for their compassion and understanding. You will not regret trying Ketamine Assisted Therapy with Field Trip Health. Ketamine Assisted Therapy is not cheap but the best investment you will make in your mental health. Money well spent."

"After a lifetime of treatment-resistant depression, chronic anxiety and PTSD, I can honestly say that the treatment offered at Field Trip Health is truly life-saving. My experience with them has been one of the most powerful of my life, and for the first time in as long as I can remember, I am actually looking forward to the future - and the present - with hope. Throughout the entire process, each and every person I dealt with was kind, caring, compassionate, and both consummately professional but also authentically human. They made what could have been a daunting or even frightening experience feel safe and thoroughly supported. I can't thank them enough, and if you are struggling with your own challenges, I would highly recommend reaching out, and giving them a call."

"Complex PTSD & Major Depressive Disorder, after 24yrs of policing & emergency service employment. I can say, what I accessed through ketamine treatment, I am not confident I could have, without the medication. It’ll leave you raw & exhausted, but feeling more capable than ever, to manage that overflowing trauma bucket. You can mitigate the overall feeling of complete hopelessness & helplessness, once the uniform is shed & all that’s left of you….is you. Don’t give up. “There’s more life to live”. I think this treatment has allowed me to believe that statement to be true. Blessings"

"Staff are incredible, the clinic is gorgeous, and the modality is wonderful. We embarked on 6 KAP experiences over 4 weeks and I feel better than I ever have. My PTSD symptomology was miraculously reduced, and I found access to my creative imagination again. I am so honored to be in the care of these wonderful practitioners, they were trauma informed and so much more. I will be recommending this treatment to everyone I come across, I am so thrilled that psychedelic therapy is here and accessibility is opening up. Thank you, this is a wonderful new lease on life"

Hi, I'm Patrick O., a retired 66-year-old firefighter with almost 34 years of service. After completing Ketamine Therapy at The Vancouver Clinic in February, my life took a positive turn. Struggling with depression for years, Field Trip and tools acquired in 2021 transformed my outlook. From dreading retirement to eagerly anticipating each day, it's been a remarkable change. The caring staff at Field Trip played a crucial role in my journey, and I'm grateful. If you're feeling desperate, I'd be happy to share my story. Thank you, Field Trip, for being my savior. Sincerely, Patrick O.

Frequently asked questions.
How is psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy different from other therapies I’ve tried?
Psilocybin harnesses the power of psychedelics to enhance neuroplasticity throughout the therapy experience. Psilocybin increases neuroplasticity, the rewiring of connections within the brain, which helps individuals adapt new thinking models with greater ease.
What does the research say?
In the largest and most significant trial to date on psilocybin therapy by the Compass Pathways Phase 2b clinical trial, published in November 2022 in the New England Journal of Medicine, many patients with treatment-resistant depression showed a rapid improvement over placebo in symptoms on day two and at the week three endpoint for the trial. Many participants further sustained these benefits over the placebo group at week 12.
2023 research on end-of-life cancer care shows that 70-100% of participants had positive life changes. 60-80% of participants had reduced anxiety and depression, which was sustained six months after psilocybin administration.
In a 2022 case report, researchers demonstrated significant symptom improvement for an individual with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), with improvements continuing and lasting a year later.
In a phase I 2023 study exploring the use of psilocybin in treating anorexia, researchers deemed it safe and tolerable. More research continues to emerge regarding this use.
In a 2015 study, researchers indicated that participants had an 80% adherence to smoking cessation with the use of psilocybin.
Can I be on other medications when undergoing psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy?
This depends on the specific medication. During your 50-minute medical consultation, issues regarding current medications will be addressed and discussed.
Is psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy covered by insurance?
Every treatment is conducted by licensed Registered Psychotherapists and Clinical Counselors, which are typically insurance-eligible. We work with every client to ensure applicable insurance is used. Yet, we always recommend confirming your coverage type with your insurance provider before committing.
Can certain conditions make me ineligible?
Your eligibility is determined in your medical consultation. During this time, we will go through your medical history and health status, which can provide information regarding your specific eligibility. The main contradictions to this type of treatment include psychosis, pregnancy, and uncontrolled hypertension.
