Psilocybin-Assisted Psychotherapy

Are you struggling to see results with conventional therapeutic approaches? Does it feel as though nothing works?

Trying treatment after treatment with minimal to no results can prove frustrating. While your quality of life and mental health suffer, it may feel as though nothing helps. It can start to feel hopeless. At Field Trip Health, we understand, and you’re not alone. With treatment-resistant depression, anxiety, PTSD, and substance abuse disorders, psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy offers a revolutionary new approach to elevate your well-being.

Psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy enhances the brain’s neuroplasticity, allowing new neural networks to grow and old ones to reorganize. This can help you unlearn negative thought patterns and build new, healthy ones. In turn, this can lead to lasting healing.

How does Psilocybin-Assisted Psychotherapy work.

Psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy combines psilocybin (the active ingredient in magic mushrooms) with psychotherapy to promote self-reflection and break through rigid thought patterns. It works by enhancing neuroplasticity, guiding you toward the formation of healthy thought patterns while weakening negative pathways—which is critical for anxiety and depression recovery.

How long does a typical Psilocybin-assisted therapy treatment take?

A therapeutic session for psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy is allotted an 8.5-hour duration. Typically, the therapeutic experience lasts several hours, giving way to powerful transformative change. An experienced and trusted Clinician is by your side throughout your entire journey, ensuring your safety every step of the way.

The total number of sessions in individual treatment plans varies and is based on your needs. Most often, the treatment plan includes multiple preparation sessions before your therapeutic experience and multiple integration sessions afterward.

What results will I see?

Individual responses vary. At Field Trip Health, we’re committed to your well-being. Research demonstrates the effectiveness of psilocybin-assisted psychotherapies for various mental health conditions—with many results surpassing that of conventional treatment strategies.

If your treatment doesn’t meet your expectations, we offer a 25% credit of treatment costs toward other eligible programs for flexible and adaptable healing approaches. Your satisfaction and well-being is our top priority.

Is there any downtime?

Each therapeutic session spans 8.5 hours. Please note that due to the effects of the session, driving afterward is not advisable, and it is recommended to arrange a safe ride home. While some clients choose to take the following day off for rest, reflection, and healing, it is not mandatory.

Frequently asked questions.

Psilocybin harnesses the power of psychedelics to enhance neuroplasticity throughout the therapy experience. Psilocybin increases neuroplasticity, the rewiring of connections within the brain, which helps individuals adapt new thinking models with greater ease.

In the largest and most significant trial to date on psilocybin therapy by the Compass Pathways Phase 2b clinical trial, published in November 2022 in the New England Journal of Medicine, many patients with treatment-resistant depression showed a rapid improvement over placebo in symptoms on day two and at the week three endpoint for the trial. Many participants further sustained these benefits over the placebo group at week 12.

2023 research on end-of-life cancer care shows that 70-100% of participants had positive life changes. 60-80% of participants had reduced anxiety and depression, which was sustained six months after psilocybin administration.

In a 2022 case report, researchers demonstrated significant symptom improvement for an individual with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), with improvements continuing and lasting a year later.

In a phase I 2023 study exploring the use of psilocybin in treating anorexia, researchers deemed it safe and tolerable. More research continues to emerge regarding this use.

In a 2015 study, researchers indicated that participants had an 80% adherence to smoking cessation with the use of psilocybin.

Your eligibility is determined in your medical consultation. The main contradictions to this type of treatment include psychosis, pregnancy, and uncontrolled hypertension.

A common but minimal side effect is nausea shortly after ingesting the medicine. Our Clinicians ensure your safety and monitoring throughout your therapeutic experience. Negative experiences, or “bad trips,” involving fear, distress, or anxiety are possible. Yet, these are minimized by our relaxing clinical environment and professional guidance.
