Clinician-Supervised At-Home Programs That May Include Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy

Available in Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia for adults who are exploring additional mental-health support options under clinical supervision.

At-Home Programs with In-Person Medical Support for Eligible Individuals

When medication is involved, a licensed nurse is present in person to support safety monitoring and clinical oversight. In certain situations, and only after a comprehensive medical assessment, clinicians may consider whether a prescription medication such as ketamine is appropriate within a structured therapeutic plan.

Our Clinical Approach at Field Trip Health

Field Trip Health uses a structured, clinician-supervised model for at-home programs that may include psychedelic-assisted therapy when appropriate. Care is coordinated by licensed clinicians and therapists and may involve preparation sessions, in-home clinical supervision when medication is used, and integration sessions to support reflection and continuity.

Care plans are developed individually based on medical assessment, safety considerations, and ongoing communication throughout the process.

How it works

Book a free discovery call

Start with a brief call to learn more about our at-home program and to understand whether it may be appropriate based on your circumstances. Our team can outline the steps involved and answer general questions about the process.

Virtual medical consultation

You’ll meet virtually with a licensed prescribing clinician to review your medical and mental-health history. The clinician will determine whether you may be eligible for a supervised therapeutic program. In some situations, and only after this assessment, the clinician may consider whether a medication such as ketamine is appropriate within a structured therapeutic plan.

At-home sessions with clinical support

If approved, sessions are scheduled in your home. A licensed nurse attends each dosing appointment in person, and your therapist joins virtually for preparation and integration. Programs typically consist of several sessions delivered over 2–3 weeks, depending on your care plan.

The at-home program is currently available in Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia.

Frequently asked questions.

Field Trip Health provides a clinician-supervised at-home care model for eligible individuals. The program includes virtual preparation and integration sessions with a therapist, as well as in-person clinical support from a licensed nurse when medical procedures are involved.

In certain situations, and only after a comprehensive medical assessment, clinicians may consider whether a prescription medication such as ketamine is appropriate within a structured therapeutic plan. Any use of medication occurs within a supervised framework with established safety protocols.

You can begin by scheduling a free discovery call to learn more about the program and whether it may be appropriate for your situation. If you choose to continue, a licensed prescribing clinician will conduct a comprehensive medical and mental-health assessment to determine eligibility.

This assessment includes a review of your history, current medications, safety considerations, and possible alternatives. Eligibility varies from person to person and is based solely on clinical judgment.

Safety is a core focus of this model. For individuals who are assessed as eligible, each dosing session takes place with a licensed nurse physically present in the home to monitor vital signs and overall well-being. All care is delivered using established clinical protocols, and therapeutic support is provided before and after sessions to help ensure continuity and oversight. Suitability, risks, and alternative options are reviewed as part of the medical assessment.

Our at-home, clinically supervised program—designed for eligible clients who may be considered for psychedelic-assisted therapy— is currently available in select communities across Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia. The program may expand to additional regions as clinical capacity allows.

Administration methods vary by province and are determined through an individual clinical assessment:

  • British Columbia & Quebec: Intramuscular (IM) administration

  • Ontario: Intranasal, sublingual, or IM administration, depending on clinical assessment

Your prescribing clinician will determine the medically appropriate option based on your health history, safety considerations, and provincial regulations.

Preparing your space in advance can help support a calm and focused therapeutic environment. Many clients choose to create a quiet room with soft lighting, comfortable seating, and minimal interruptions. Wearing comfortable clothing and silencing electronic notifications is recommended.

If appropriate, some individuals arrange for a trusted support person to be nearby, although this is optional and discussed with your clinical team in advance.

People may explore psychedelic-assisted therapy when navigating challenges related to:

  • depressive symptoms

  • anxiety-related concerns

  • trauma-related histories, including PTSD

  • obsessive thinking patterns

  • chronic pain

  • substance-use-related patterns

  • eating-related challenges

This approach is typically considered when previous treatments have not provided the level of relief the individual was hoping for. Eligibility is determined through a clinical assessment.

Some people report temporary effects such as nausea, changes in blood pressure, dizziness, or fatigue. Your nurse monitors you throughout the session, and you will be advised not to drive or operate machinery for the rest of the day.

After your session, plan for a period of quiet rest at home. Some people choose to spend time journaling or reflecting on their experience. You will be advised not to drive, use public transit alone, or operate heavy machinery until the following day. Your clinical team will provide guidance tailored to your situation as part of your overall care plan.

In Canada, ketamine is a prescription medication with established medical uses and may be considered within a clinically supervised therapeutic program when appropriate. Other psychedelic substances—including psilocybin and MDMA—remain controlled substances and are not authorized for general medical use outside of approved research or clinical trials. Field Trip Health does not provide care using psilocybin or MDMA.
