Frequently asked questions.
How does at-home psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy work in Barrie?
A nurse visits your home for each dosing session with the required equipment. Your therapist joins virtually before and after to support preparation and integration. The specific psychedelic used in PAP is discussed during consultation; ketamine is currently the only psychedelic legally available for therapeutic use in Canada.
Is this treatment legal and safe?
Psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy delivered with ketamine uses a medication that is legally available in Canada for medical use. All care is provided under licensed clinical supervision using protocols aligned with Canadian regulatory requirements to support safety throughout the process.
What conditions do people explore this for?
At-home psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy may be considered within a broader mental-health care plan for individuals living with challenges such as:
Major depressive disorder
Generalized or social anxiety
PTSD
OCD
Chronic pain
Eating-related concerns
Substance-use patterns or addictive behaviours
It is generally explored when conventional treatments—such as medications or psychotherapy—have not provided sufficient relief.
Can I use my insurance or extended health benefits?
Many clients are able to use the therapy portion of their extended health benefits toward part of their overall costs, depending on their insurer and plan. We provide detailed receipts that you can submit for reimbursement through your provider.
Will I be alone during treatment?
No. A nurse is physically present in your home for each session, and your therapist supports you virtually.
How quickly will I feel better?
Experiences vary. Some individuals report noticing changes early in the process, while for others the experience unfolds more gradually. Your care team will check in with you throughout the program to understand how you’re feeling and to adjust your support as needed.
Do I need a doctor’s referral?
No referral is needed. Just book a free call to get started.
